Robert Craig

[Note: the following is an unedited version of the candidate’s own words]

Robert Craig was born in Denmark and came to Canada at a very young age.  He attended elementary and secondary school in Vaughan. Robert Craig studied political science both at Carleton University in Ottawa and York University. For the past 10 years, Robert has held the position of general manager of a successful business in Woodbridge.  Robert and his wife are proud parents of  two young children.  Robert has lived in Vaughan for over 25 years.

5 action points:

1. Push for funding to extend the subway line three or four interchanges north of Hwy 7.   Stopping the subway line at Hwy 7 will create a major traffic dilemma as subway riders will need to drive to Hwy 7 and Jane Street to get on the subway.

2.    Advocate for the creation of a first tier/class hospital within the City of Vaughan.  A city the size of Vaughan should not be without a hospital.

3.    Make a priority of reducing gridlock and expanding the road network.  The 427 extension is long overdue and the Major Mackenzie extension to Highway 50 should have been already completed.  Also, a major road must be constructed as an east/ west transportation route through northern Vaughan, so that traffic crossing the city will be diverted around and not be pushed through existing communities.  This along with expanded public transportation will keep Vaughan moving.

4.   Support the preservation of existing communities.  The growth in Vaughan should not come at the expense of those who call Vaughan home today.

5.    Promote expanding the business base and investment in Vaughan.

Well, I especially like the fact that he wishes to be simply elegant.
