Originally from Montreal, I have lived in Thornhill since 1989.  I graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo and see patients two days/week at the medical center attached to Markham Stouffville Hospital.

I have four children ages 22 to 12. They are all very independent and self-sufficient – the eldest is at the McGill School of Medicine while the others are in grades 12, 9 and 6 respectively.

Over the past decade I have attended many City of Vaughan Town Hall meetings to protest several issues, including the application to re-zone a plaza on Center St for use as a Bingo and Billiards hall and the proposal to construct a Walmart in a residential neighbourhood at Bathurst and Center (I would have preferred big box stores be limited to Dufferin , Hwy 7, etc – near the Canadian Tire would have been more appropriate.)  I have had articles and letters to the editor published on many issues while lobbying city councillors to remember the interests of the taxpayer when considering the desires of the developers.

I have organized an open membership Facebook Group ‘Thornhill Residents Concerned with Their Community’ with over 200 members. Many topics have been posted and discussed – some longstanding disputes have even been resolved. Please join and post your comments, concerns and pictures! Contact me if you need help getting on Facebook and/or the group.

I was part of the campaign teams for Peter Shurman MPP and Peter Kent MP for Thornhill and am presently President of Thornhill Riding for the Progressive Concervative Party of Ontario.  While municipal politics is not directly affiliated with political parties, many municipal politicians support specific candidates during election campaigns and vice versa.

I would like to hear your suggestions on ways to improve our community.
