Trudeau off-side?

5 Nov

Seems much is being made of the fact Liberal MP Justin Trudeau came to town yesterday to campaign for candidate Tony Genco. The two stopped by DiManno Bakery for a photo op and lunch and then played cards with seniors at West Woodbridge Seniors Club.

It’s the second time in recent weeks Trudeau has been in the GTA to campaign for a fellow Liberal. In the run-up to the municipal elections, he appeared about town with mayoral candidate George Smitherman, a former Liberal MPP.

In a blog post yesterday, National Post writer Kenyon Wallace  suggested  Trudeau’s help was out of place. That sparked a rebuttal from Globe And Mail writer Robert Silver, who called the criticism “silliness.” Trudeau himself responded on Twitter late last night, saying he’s learned to roll his eyes at such criticism.

What do you think? Do you have a problem with parties bringing out-of-area MP’s into Vaughan to canvass for their candidates?
