Do you support the long gun registry, yes or no, and would you vote to repeal it in parliament?

The National Post (October 12) reports that in reply to a question asking if you would be allowed to speak freely in caucus and in parliament despite Stephen Harper’s clearly controlling nature, you described yourself as a “team player” and said “The Prime Minister deals with issues as he sees them….”. But a member of parliament, to do their job, is responsible for exercising his or her best judgment in the interest of his constituents and the country; our member of parliament owes a duty of service to the people but must be slave to neither party or constituent, to paraphrase Burke, and certainly never to a mere party leader in our democracy. Your remarks tell us you do not understand the role of an MP; why are we to believe you are not just a name on which Stephen Harper can hang his law and order agenda?
